This week at Toujours ensemble, 56 kids took part in fun-filled activities as part of the annual spring break. A tradition of more than 15 years, youth from Verdun spent three nights away from home at Camp Minogami in Shawinigan.
According to Viviane Auberson-Lavoie, youth worker at Toujours ensemble, the goal of this special outing is to introduce kids to new experiences, help develop their confidence and autonomy, while strengthening their bond with the organisation’s youth workers.
“It’s time to unplug completely. There is no network at the camp, so our youths participate actively in the activities, discuss with their friends… We take the time to get together! We have a thematic dinner, snowshoe outings, tubing, and big games organized by the team outside. We get a good dose of the outdoors and come back to the city energized.” said Viviane.
Toujours ensemble youth can register for $35. The aim is ensuring this nature-filled experience is accessible to low-income families.
